There’s many interesting items to be found on Kickstarter, but these are the coolest ones this week.
The Dragon Tray
This is the most beautiful collection of dice trays I’ve ever seen. That shouldn’t be a surprise since this project is by Dog Might Games, but these are works of art. Available in over 25 designs and a variety of finishes, woods, and felts (or even faux leather!) this dice tray will quickly be the envy of anyone else at your table. As an added bonus, each of them come with the hardware to hang them on the wall and display them like the art they are. I ordered the Dragon Sheath when they ran the kickstarter last year and it’s one of my favorite pieces in my gaming collection.
“Crafted by the insane Lumberjack Vikings at Dog Might Games, the Dragon Tray is the most jaw dropping dice rolling surface known to man. These amazing works of art are the culmination of years of artistic study combined with technical expertise and fine craftsmanship. Every Dragon Tray is created from hand selected hardwoods and comes with a Lifetime Guarantee.
At Dog Might, we understand that gaming is about immersion. All of our products are focused on bringing you a unique piece of art that enhances your experience at the gaming table, allowing you to stay in character and keep you fully engaged in the story you are creating. To that end, we have created a wide variety of designs so you will be able to find the right thematic fit for your game.”
Numenera Audio Collection
The Ninth World is a strange place, so not just any music can serve to set the ambiance. Since we record our games we can’t have music playing in the background while we game, but I think it really helps set the mood for the GM. In a world like the Ninth World, the right music can really help your players immerse themselves in the story you’re telling. This kickstarter plans to release 120 tracks, with a track for almost all of the places listed in the books. Even if you don’t play Numenera, this music can be used in other settings.
“Monte Cook Games’ Numenera is a vast awesome fantasy setting that mixes the ancient tech from fallen civilizations with a new era of humanity. With this project, Plate Mail Games will bring professional audio backgrounds to several locations throughout the Ninth World.”
The Key Armory Part II
These keys are so creative, I love the idea of having a key that looks like your favorite sword. This kickstarter is launching a bunch of new designs. The keys are available in several common sizes in the US and UK and should be able to work for your house or office keys.
“BECOME A LEGEND – Now you can carry the world’s most legendary swords on your key ring. The Key Armory was created by nerds, whose lives were shaped by swords from fantasy stories and by the heroes who wielded them.
We are extremely excited to announce five BRAND NEW designs with our new Kickstarter campaign! This Kickstarter will allow us to mass produce designs inspired by Final Fantasy 7, He-Man, Xenoblade Chronicles, Voltron, & Sword Art Online! Arm yourself by backing our Kickstarter, and we will send you the blade (or blades) of your choice!”
D20 Prize Candles
Candles with a prize inside have been becoming more popular the last few years. These are shaped like a d20, with an RPG inspired scent and have a full set of metal polyhedrals inside. It’s a great surprise if you’re giving the candle as a gift, or just fun to discover on your own.
“Yeah, we thought about making dice candles a while back, but we wanted to do something more than just a really cool shaped block of wax…unfortunately for our test subject, it turns out that regular dice will in fact catch on fire and die if you put them inside a candle. (R.I.P. Ugly D12 that always rolled low, you’ll sort of be missed). So we teamed up with our friends at DieHardDice.com to solve that whole silly combustibility issue! So now, each D20 candle comes with an entire 7-piece set of metal gaming dice! (D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D20, and D%)”
