There’s many interesting items to be found on Kickstarter, but these are the coolest ones this week.
Noirlandia
I like the idea of the quickstart game, especially since there is no GM! Also I love murder mysteries so this is my kind of game, especially bringing in the Noir aspect. I think there’s a ton of possibilities with this game, and I can’t wait to get my copy.
“Noirlandia is about a tangled murder mystery in a fantastic city. It’s a collaborative, one-shot roleplaying game inspired by Questlandia’s worldbuilding and narrative resolution systems. You’ll create a murder mystery from scratch, reveal the corrupt forces lurking in the shadows of your city, and follow the investigation to its terrible conclusion.
Your characters will fight for answers and question their principles. After 3-4 hours, you’ll have either found the truth, or lost the chance forever. Noirlandia doesn’t have a game master, so nobody knows the answers in advance—your mystery will be created and solved at the table.”
Elegant Dice Boxes
There are a lot of dice boxes on Kickstarter lately, but these ones look really nice. I really like the carvings on top. They look elegant and there’s a lot of options for wood types and lining colors.
“Our dream and goal is to bring our own brand of beautiful artistry to gaming accessories. We know there are several makers of high quality gaming accessories already on the market thanks to the help of backers like you. We would love to be able to join them in delivering top quality products that will set your gaming apart. Please support us in our effort to acquire additional commercial grade equipment for our small shop so we can deliver more elegant creations to gamers everywhere.”
Lesser and Greater Seals of Cthulhu
These are some really cool coins and seals inspired by Lovecraft’s works. If you want some neat props for your games or need to add to your cool coin collection, you should give these a gander.
“I have often wondered what those seals would have looked like had Lovecraft designed them for his Cthulhu Mythos. This inspired me to create many different seals for use with my gamers. Games like Call of Cthulhu went so far as to give us much great source material for the would be cultist but it was not enough for my games.
As such I scoured the internet for great artists and eventually found one who understood my needs. I commissioned Bryan Reagan to create twelve seals. I then consulted with many different companies that make coins. Finally I settled on one that could produce something of the quality that I was seeking. I sent them the sketches and this kickstarter was born.”
The Veil: Cyberpunk RPG
Apocalypse World is a great and versatile engine and it’s always great to see how people use it to create new worlds and settings to play in. The Veil is a new RPG in a cyberpunk setting that uses Apocalypse World. I like how they use the emotional state of the character to determine the stats that you can add as modifiers. Playing to your character beliefs also adds to your advancement, which is something I really love to see in a game.
“The Veil is a new cyberpunk roleplaying game that uses the Apocalypse World engine to facilitate the creation of a future setting where breakthroughs in technology force humanity to redefine itself.
This kickstarter is to get art, layout, print and ship The Veil. The book will be graphic novel size, full color, softcover, and somewhere around ~250 pages depending on art and layout. I’ll be using the same printer as my last two books – if you backed Worlds in Peril, it will be very similar except softcover, and most likely a higher page count.”
