There’s many interesting items to be found on Kickstarter, but these are the coolest ones this week.

Red Markets
We’re currently working our way through No Soul Left Behind, a campaign for Better Angels written by Caleb Stokes, which is a joy to read and run. I can’t wait to get my hands on his newest project, Red Markets, a game focused on a factor everyone seems to ignore after the zombie apocalypse – economics. This game tries to answer the question ‘Why would you go into the dungeon?’ and it’s take is pretty simple, bills to pay. In any sane world no one would go adventuring, so Red Markets gives your players the zombie apocalypse to motivate them, and the not-fun job of surviving until retirement.

“Red Markets is a tabletop RPG about economic horror. In Red Markets, characters risk their lives trading between the massive quarantine zones containing a zombie outbreak and the remains of civilization. They are Takers: mercenary entrepreneurs unwilling to accept their abandonment. Bound together into competing crews, each seeks to profit from mankind’s near-extinction before it claims them. They must hustle, scheme, and scam as hard as they fight if they hope to survive the competing factions and undead hordes the GM throws at them.

Takers that are quick, clever, or brutal enough might live to see retirement in a safe zone, but many discover too late that the cycle of poverty proves harder to escape than the hordes of undead. Red Markets uses the traditional zombie genre to tell a story about surviving on the wrong end of the economy. It’s cut-throat capitalism with its knife on your neck.”

13th Age Coins and Icon Tokens
These coins are beautiful. I love how they duplicated them from the text of 13th Age, and that they stack just as described. The icon tokens are beautiful as well, and they show a side by side comparison of the picture in the book they duplicated them from. I think if you play 13th Age you really need to check out this kickstarter, and if you don’t then you still really need to look at it because the work put into these coins is amazing.

Elvenroot Collapsible Dice Tower and Dice Case
These dice boxes are amazing. I love that they look a d20, and the engraving is beautiful. A giant d20 on your desk with all your favorite dice seems like the perfect storage mechanism. The Dice towers look beautiful as well, even when collapsed. If you want some beautiful wood pieces in your collection, check these out.

Noirlandia
I like the idea of the quickstart game, especially since there is no GM! Also I love murder mysteries so this is my kind of game, especially bringing in the Noir aspect. I think there’s a ton of possibilities with this game, and I can’t wait to get my copy.

“Noirlandia is about a tangled murder mystery in a fantastic city. It’s a collaborative, one-shot roleplaying game inspired by Questlandia’s worldbuilding and narrative resolution systems. You’ll create a murder mystery from scratch, reveal the corrupt forces lurking in the shadows of your city, and follow the investigation to its terrible conclusion.

Acadecon 2016: Leveling Up
We love the folks over at RPG Academy and are so excited to see them launch AcadeCon once more! This convention focuses on letting you play games with like-minded enthusiasts and big names in the RPG community. It’s located in Dayton Ohio from November 11th-13th this year. You can get a regular badge, VIP badge, or GM badge. Noisy Person Cards
I’m a huge fan of Kat Kuhl and James D’Amato of Campaign and One Shot podcast fame. This game from them helps you develop new voices for your characters and NPCs in games, as well as have fun using silly voices with your friends. They’ve also made it easy to play with your more inappropriate adult friends and remove cards to play it with kids.

C is for Cthulhu Coloring Book
Cthulhu Coloring books are pretty popular this month on Kickstarter, but they’re so cute I can’t help wanting them. This one seems aimed more towards kids, but it’s a great way to introduce your children to The Old Ones. You can also pick up a Cthulhu plushie and the board book to read with your kids every night.

Unknown Armies
Unknown Armies looks like exactly the type of game I enjoy. Horror? Occult? People struggling (and sometimes failing) to fix the world? Sounds perfect. Plus this game comes from people I trust to succeed in the horror genre, like Greg Stolze and John Tynes.

“Unknown Armies is an occult game about broken people conspiring to fix the world. It’s about humanity, and how those among us who are the most obsessed have the power to alter reality until it aligns with their fevered desires. It’s about getting what you want despite others trying to keep it from you.

MythosMonsters: A Lovecraft Art Book and Coloring Book
This collection of Mythos art is stunning. There are a lot of great prints, but what I’m most excited for is the coloring book. You can get the art and the book as either a PDF or a physical book. I really can’t wait to get my copy of “The Color Out of Space.”

The book serves as an encyclopedia of Lovecraftian monsters full of notes and excerpts, along side the drawings and paintings. Dice: Rendezvous with Randomness
I really love dice. I love the cool dice that show up on Kickstarter and Shapeways and other online stores. So I really love the idea of a photobook showing off some of the beautiful dice that have been made. I really love the pictures they show on the kickstarter, and you should at least peruse those. You can also get just a print of one of the pictures.

“This book is an homage to the ultimate symbol of table-top and role-playing-game culture. Starting with the color, form and function, I let the dice inspire me. Random chance, luck and probability have even permeated my approach to photography. The work has aroused thoughts on matters of order and chaos, determinism and free will.
